Shelter Animals Count new national database for shelter data
A new online database called Shelter Animals Count aims to tally US shelter and rescue data, counting how many dogs and cats move through shelters, how many are adopted, returned, or euthanized, and enabling county level comparisons similar to the Census. The project, funded by grants and led by a nonprofit, plans to recruit shelters nationwide and hire two staffers to manage data and outreach.
