Athens woman charged with theft and arson in neighbor’s fire
Lisa M. May, 34, is jailed on 500000 bond in Athens County for aggravated arson after allegedly setting fire to a Westfield Place residence five days after being indicted on theft charges involving the same victim, Lili Chandler. Investigators recovered evidence at May’s Westfield Place address with State Fire Marshal aid. the fire’s cause remains under investigation. All occupants escaped. Athens Police assisted.

Habitat completes first blitz build in Southeast Ohio
Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio held a dedication in Nelsonville for Athens County veteran Mark Jones at 590 W. Franklin St. The blitz build finished in 48 hours with about 300 volunteers contributing 3,000 hours over 10 weeks. Jones, an Air Force veteran, will move in after Christmas and receive a zero interest mortgage funding future projects.
