Population Growth Alarms Soil Conservationist
Frank E. Neeley warned at the Athens Grange Hall that rapid population growth strains land, jobs, housing, and capital. He cited 13 acres per person in 1957 versus 85 in 1900, and noted two million acres lost yearly to roads and development. He urged conserving soil heritage and cited productivity gains through science and machinery. He and other officials presented district progress and cooperative figures for 1959.
