Middletown Boys Admit Setting Fire at Warehouse
Three boys ages 10 and 11 admitted accidentally starting a fire that destroyed or heavily damaged the M J Gibbons Supply Co warehouse. About 25 propane tanks exploded as the blaze caused an estimated $1 million in damages. One boy’s hair was singed and three firefighters suffered minor injuries. The youths said they bought gasoline, used a bamboo stick to ignite it, and had crawled through a hole in the blocks to reach the site. They were released to their parents.
