Fast Driving Arrests After Willow Creek Collision
Charles McVickers of Willow Creek Canaan township was arrested for fast driving after a Saturday night incident on Alain Street near State Street. His buggy was crowded to the curb, upsetting it and injuring him. he pleaded guilty before Mayor Davis and paid a fine and costs. Harvest Home Picnic at Amesville Joins Joyful Day of Amusements
Amesville on August 26 hosted the Harvest Home Picnic drawing an estimated 2000 to 2500 attendees. The event featured music by the Amesville band and Hooper's Ridge drum corps, speeches by Rev Haas Rev G H Beeman Prof A W Shinn and others, and diversions from greased pig and wheelbarrow races to a fox chase. Athletic contests awarded prizes while a ball game between Athens and Amesville ended with Amesville losing 12 to 7. The Athens county board of elections swore in new members George Ridenour Republican of Buchtel and E Coleman Democrat of Nelsonville. Coleman became deputy supervisor and W K Scott Republican clerk after winning a coin toss against Democrat Frank Bryson.
