Captain Riggs division superintendent of the B & O SW sustained two broken ribs when a sudden jolt in a caboose near Belpre hurled him against a store. He was brought to Athens on No.3 and received surgical care at his Union Street home.

Death at Nelsonville follows illness of young Lambourne
The ten year old daughter of Byron Lambourne died Saturday in Nelsonville from spinal meningitis. Former Nelsonville resident, Lambourne now resides in Parkersburg where the remains were taken Monday for interment beside his wife, Grace Wright Lambourne, formerly of Athens.

In Marshfield August 3 three aged residents died within 48 hours. Mrs Louthwan aged 60 died from head disease, funeral in St Pauls Athens tomorrow. David Williams 84, member of Constitution Lodge F and A M, funeral at 2 pm Marshfield cemetery. John Beverage 85 died at home, funeral and interment Thursday. Dr William McPherson 82 critically ill, Marshfield store closed.
