Doby Delivers for Indians in 2-1 Win Over Red Sox
Cleveland’s Larry Doby, after a partisan chorus at the plate, doubled in the eighth to spark a 2-1 victory over Boston at Cleveland Stadium. Joe Gordon contributed by forcing a key error, while Bob Lemon starred on the mound and in the field. Ted Williams drew walks as pitchers avoided him, and Satchel Paige then started the nightcap before rain halted play.
