Nearly 100 children and parents gathered on Polley Field in Nelsonville for Athletic Day kicking off Parade of the Hills. Events included sack races, musical chairs and basketball shots with trophies and Rocky Boots gift certificates for winners. Volunteers from local teams helped supervise as families enjoyed rain soaked activities and planned rides and food vendors for the festival.

Millfield residents arraigned on drug charges in Hocking County
Millfield residents Michael T. Heller and Connie J. Hogue faced a Wednesday video arraignment in Hocking County Municipal Court on a third degree felony count of illegal possession or assembly of chemicals for manufacture of drugs. Both were ordered held on a 50000 bond with conditions including no contact and no access to drugs. A preliminary hearing is set for August 24 at 10 45 a.m. in Hocking County Municipal Court.

Activist group INDECLINE installed life size nude Trump figures in New York San Francisco Los Angeles Seattle and Cleveland. An artist in Cleveland crafted the pieces showing a stern Trump with folded hands over a bulging belly some nudity partially exposed. The Union Square sculpture drew crowds and was removed by the parks department while West Coast statues remained in place as of Thursday. Trump campaign declined to comment.

Cleveland detective placed on leave after handcuffed woman incident
Cleveland police detective accused of striking a handcuffed woman in the face after she spat at officers is on administrative duty. Chief Calvin Williams said the detective is restricted to paperwork and in office tasks while investigators determine what happened. A cellphone video shows the woman spitting at officers and being struck, with a report noting she threw a soda can at them before spitting. The officer wrote he grabbed her face to stop the spitting.

Trimble teachers win staged pay raises and higher premiums
Trimble Local Teachers Association approves a contract with the school board granting 4.75 percent raise for 2016-17, 4 percent for 2017-18, and 3.75 percent for 2018-19.
