Murray City Council faced vocal opposition at a Monday meeting over a long delayed water line project from five years ago. The principal contractor reportedly went out of business, leaving the city to absorb the remaining tap fee costs.
Council members face resident protests as some waterlines were bypassed when houses were empty. The village will cover three tap fees at up to 750 dollars each, with a possible fourth fee bringing costs to about 3000 dollars. Residents argue the fees are unfair because meters should have been connected. See water on page A2.
Albany asks the Ohio Environmental Review Appeals Commission to pause an on site sewage treatment system permit issued to Alexander Local School District for a new wellness center. A stay motion says trial starts around Jan 31, 2017 and completion could occur before any remand.
The Athens school board formally approves an unpaid steering committee to advise on a master facilities plan aligned with district vision and mission. The 15 member panel includes unions selections, building representatives, four board appointees, a district administrator, Athens mayor, and an Ohio University liaison.
In Nelsonville 53 pre judged pies sold on the Public Square raising 3955 for Parade of the Hills daily programs for kids. Top bid reached 145 for Mini Panda Cheesecakes by Hocking College. Ribbon winning pies were judged at the Nelsonville Flower Shop before auction.
