A special session of the Lawrence County Grand Jury convened to consider the murder of Callie Rogers, a 72 year old widow. Sheriff Bernard Monte said James Thompson, 27, a former inmate, confessed to killing her believing she hid money. The incident occurred October 3, 1953.
