Four persons perished when a tri motor Delta Airplane crashed and burned after circling a cotton field near Gilmer Texas in an failed landing attempt. Farmers heard the engine roar and saw the plane drop flares before the wreck. The two passengers were burned beyond recognition and pulled from the wreckage.

A warrant for first degree murder was issued for Joseph Meluch 26 after his bride Dorothy 21 was found beaten and slain in their Lorain Ohio home. Police say Meluch disappeared Wednesday afternoon before relatives found the body and a 13 year old brother discovered it. Margaret Meluch admitted hiding bloodstained clothing near the victim. Meluch previously served as a government detective. The couple married July 1 at Fort Dearborn Michigan. Dorothy Flowers was a graduate of State College High School in State College Pennsylvania.
Jallipolis report: Deputy Sheriff Howard Gates of Gallia County resigns and Sheriff E E Hatfield accepts the resignation. The sheriff said he is not yet ready to name a successor and Gates did not reveal future plans.
Cleveland based statistician Col Leonard P Ayres said the outlook suggests business will hold most recent gains through year end and may add more. He cited the Fed index of industrial production as a reliable activity gauge, noting it fell to a three year low in 1932 and has since seen recoveries that are now largely maintained.

Double funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Hobson Methodist Church for Bettie Riggs six and her grandfather Archie Stewart fifty two who were killed in a Wednesday traffic accident at Bradbur Burial will follow in Middleport Hill Cemetery. Bettie's parents Mr and Mrs Robert Riggs and a sister survive. Mr Stewart's wife and an adopted daughter, Mrs Riggs, survive.

In Columbus, Dr Evan Reck age 84 surgeon on Mt Carmel and White Cross hospital staffs died today of heart ailment.
Senator Huey Long declared he would run as an independent for the 1936 presidency if both major parties fail to nominate a liberal candidate. He warned Hoover and Roosevelt threaten disaster and urged a liberal candidate to ensure equal distribution in the nation. He named four liberals he supports for the ticket, Borah Norris Capper Wheeler, and noted others have signaled interest.
Building trades union officials report members called to WPA projects refused to work for the offered pay. About 100 to 110 painters and other crews were slated for today across 16 Cincinnati projects. WPA administrator L. A. Gillett cited new field reports as the situation develops.

Sheriff Bernard R. Monte of Lawrence County reported James Thompson of Hanging Rock confessed to wrecking a Norfolk and Western passenger train at Haverhill on April 12, 1992, killing two crew members. He also confessed to killing 4 year old Mrs. California Rogers on a farm in autumn 1933. Thompson described using a crowbar to disable a switch and causing the crash, then fled as others screamed. The train was en route from Cincinnati to Norfolk at about miles per hour.

Henry J. Berrodin head of the state old age pension system appoints administrators in ten counties. In Vinton County Berrodin and the local board agree to name H. H. Ogan as administrator to resolve a deadlock. Other appointees include Gallia Leo Carter.
Washington officials announced a new one dollar silver certificate featuring the Great Seal on the back and a redesigned front. The Treasury expects the new design to replace all present certificates as they are accumulated. In Marysville, Parest Watts, 35, admitted stealing four head of cattle after failing to post bond.
