Clyde Lawrence White 47 prominent in Coolville and eastern Athens County died Saturday night in a Parkersburg hospital after several months illness. Funeral at his East Main Street home Wednesday at 2 conducted by Rev. E J Williams with interment in Cemetery. White served as Coolville school principal, two terms on Athens County Board of Education, Ohio University alum, World War veteran, owner in White Son Co department store, and active in American Legion, Masons, and Elks. He married Pauleta Harpold in 1917 and left two sons Clyde Jr and Jack. widow, parents and two sons survive.
In Columbus a second man was jailed in connection with offering an alleged petition bill. Police searched for three others and a woman as Assistant County Prosecutor T. Vincent Martin questioned Edward Lansing, 8, from Cleveland. Oliver W. Gillette, 34, secretary of the Ohio Association for Tax Reduction, was arrested in a raid two weeks earlier.

Common Pleas Judge W B White sentenced Claude C Carpenter Huntington Far Barnum deputy marshal Chesapeake and Julian Smith Proctorville to prison after pleas of guilty to robbing a car from Kentucky fifteen miles west of Gallipolis weeks earlier. Carpenter and Barnum drew one to eleven years in the Ohio Penitentiary while Smith received an indeterminate term in Mansfield Reformatory.
