Stella Gardner age 50 but age 530 in error wife of Fred Gardner of Grosvenor Street died Thursday night from a fractured skull in a Delaware hospital. The couple were struck on Route 23 four miles north of Delaware while standing in the road. Mr Gardner a waiter at Hotel Berry. Funeral plans set in Athens. She came to Athens from Stewart.

William Brode a 15 year old son of a southern family was found in a granite crevasse near the summit of a two mile high peak after a grueling descent. Baker Armstrong of Houston first located the sandy haired blue eyed youth and mountaineers then hauled the body down 1000 feet to the trail over five hours of difficult climbing and packhorse transport.
Gallia County officers and a State Highway Patrolman seek three suspects after a chicken raid at Mrs. Lucinda Lane’s farm near Addison. A watchdog was killed by gunfire after 18 chickens were taken. Olaf Murray and Mr and Mrs John Johnson were seen near the farm in a car after dark. Murray’s wife Lou, a Lane relative, had been brought to the farm. she does not know Murray’s location. A car matching Murray’s left the scene shortly after two shots were heard. Police say they suspect Murray was involved in the poultry theft.

The Federal Works Progress Administration plans to start projects in eight counties including Meigs and Vinton, with about 6000 jobs immediately. Local leaders meet in Athens to push for a higher wage scale, arguing Meigs and adjacent areas form a larger community that justifies better pay.
Athens County submits two additional road improvement projects to the Works Progress Administration. County Engineer J W Wilson said the new items are Lick Run Road in York Township for 2.2 miles and Vanderhoff Road in Carthage Township for 1 5 miles, grading and surfacing. An abandoned Moors Bakery truck found in Springfield is the sole clue to a Gallia County burglary wave this week. Sheriff Elmer Hatfield said the truck was stolen from the bakery and located by Springfield police, with investigators linking it to two filling stations on Route 7 between Springfield and Thurman that were broken into for gasoline and oil.

Both will serve 180 year and 180 year terms in Dwight Reformatory with annual solitary confinement on July 6.
Columbus Ohio governor Davey participated as another Ohio county joined in a revolt against the state old age pension system. In Hamilton County the pension board called the system political from top to bottom while Jackson County opposed state pension chief Henry J. Berrodin by not recognizing his appointment of Homer Getties of Wellston to succeed Roy Crabtree as county administrator.

Organized labor leaders in New York City planned to mobilize 10 000 to 15 000 Works Progress Administration workers to protest the 3.50 monthly wage scale.
