Open Sewer Condition Prompts Clean-Up Request in Middleport
Residents on W Hudson St in Middleport appeal to Meigs County health officers for action on an open sewer they call a sanitary menace. They report discussions with sanitation chief J M Thornton and health commissioner W S Ellis and note cost questions. Estimated sewer cost is 35000 with cost shared by abutting property owners over 15 to 20 years, a plan the council says is unaffordable. Street Commissioner Fred Collins was asked to clean out the ditch as fear of polio and disease grows.
