In Rome Township near Stewart a property dispute ends in the fatal shooting of Lewin M Meek 60 by his 13 year old nephew Don Meek. The shooting occurred on Route 320 in front of the youth home as a fight with Meek’s father Carl Meek and Harold Meek was taking place. The coroner ruled homicide by gunshot wound and a Juvenile Court hearing is planned. Witnesses include the vanishing party and several local residents. Meek left a wife Edith and eight children. Funeral arrangements are set with Dowler Ferguson funeral home.

Fifteen Die As Flaming Greyhound Bus Wrecks Near Bloomington
A Greyhound bus traveling from Indianapolis to Bloomington crashed on a winding road and burst into flames near Bloomington Indiana. Fifteen people died and twelve were injured.
