ODOT reports a 62 percent drop in crashes after the Nelsonville bypass opened fully on Oct. 1, 2013. During 2011-12 there were 164 crashes, while in the year after full opening there were 63 crashes, with 29 on the bypass and 34 on old Route 33, including sections in Nelsonville and west of town.
