At a Tuesday public hearing the city council gave a first reading to two zoning changes. Rumac Inc would rezone about 250 acres near McKinley Ave to R-3 from manufacturing for multi family housing, and Mr and Mrs Harold Kimes seek R-1 on 10.5 acres on Route 50W from R-3 for a nursing home type facility. No opposition was noted and seven councilors approved. Rumac spokesman Erle Bridgewater Jr. said up to 15 apartment buildings could be built if the plan proceeds.
