Four Cubans returning home were exchanged for 21 Americans freed from Cuban prisons. The quartet left Boca Chica Naval Air Station at Key West aboard a Cubana Airlines plane escorted by four U.S. jet fighters as the swap proceeded.
Atty Gen Robert Kennedy announced on Monday night that four individuals are being returned to Cuba in exchange for Americans. The guiding broker appears to be New York attorney James B Donovan, noted for prior swaps and prisoner ransom deals. After Donovan secured the release of 21 Americans from Cuban prisons and flew them to Florida, the events that followed unfolded.
