Athens County voters showed spirited contests across Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster and surrounding townships. The senatorial committeemen of the Mid-14th district met at Hotel Berry and set the convention for May 7 in Athens. E. D. Sayre was named temporary chairman with H. C. Goodrich, Malcolm Jennings, and EB Tilton as secretaries.

Death of Glouster leader David Edwards reported
David Edwards prominent Glouster citizen dies at Grant’s hospital Columbus from acute pancreatic abscess. He fell ill March 20 underwent surgery, later deteriorated. Survived by wife and two daughters Nettie Morrow and Lydia Dufall, plus sisters. Funeral held in Sabina with special train. he was 59. Edwards long served as Glouster Bank cashier and was active locally in Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges and the Grand Army of the Republic.

A quartet of divorces has been filed in common pleas court over the past week signaling tensions in domestic life. Carrie Rowland petitions legal separation from Jacob Rowland citing extreme cruelty and repeated assaults including a fall of 1889 incident where he cursed her and told her to rise and resume chores while she cared for an infant.

Football Fatality in Nelsonville After Thanksgiving Game
Joseph Rahl aged 19 of Nelsonville died from internal injuries sustained in a football game between his high school and Worthington's team last Thanksgiving day. He was a senior in the high school class. The fatal injuries occurred Thursday morning.

Death of Mrs Briggs in Richland Avenue home
The death of Mrs William Brig occurred Saturday at her Richland avenue home from inflammation of the heart after several weeks of illness. She leaves her husband and grown children. She was 60. Funeral services were held at the house Monday conducted by Rev Turley with interment in the old cemetery.

Man Died in State Hospital Inmate Rosley Grabb 22
Rosley Grabb aged 22 died Monday at the state hospital where he had been an inmate for some time. He had a mania for batting his walls in and his death was due to this behavior. His remains were taken to his home in Rome township for interment Tuesday.

The four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Reed died at his Bean home early this morning. Funeral services were held today and interment followed at Nye Cemetery.
