The second day of practice shows the squad enduring a hot session with tackling, dummies, and forward passing. Eighteen men in uniform, up from day one, with more expected daily as College opens Wednesday and key players arrive Monday.
The Eighth District Medical Society will gather in Covington on the twenty fifth for a one day session. Dr T J Wills of Washington is president and Dr E M Coleman of Athens is secretary with Dr I H Goss of Athens as district counselor. The meeting marks Newton county and Walton joining the district in the latest rezoning. Thirteen counties including Clarke Elbert Newton Franklin Green Hart Putnam Morgan Madison Oconee Oglethorpe Walton and Wilkes will be represented. The session starts at 10 a m in the Covington school auditorium with papers by eminent doctors and a welcome address by Covington Mayor George T Smith followed by social entertainment.

Tonight at City Hall at eight thirty includes a brief business session focused on city business and plans to expand local commerce. A large membership committee will organize after the meeting to canvass Athens for new members and secure support, time, and funds for the movement.
Workmen cleared the Orr lot at Dougherty and Pulaski to erect the Great Neighbour-Butler tent. The accessible site, near streetcar lines, features a level, dry area with safe drainage and enhanced lighting. The tent uses comfortable, church pew like seats and substantial steps for easy access. The first service is Monday night the 16th at eight o'clock. Everybody welcome.
Mr Hussey of Shattuck and Hussey Chicago visited Athens to confer with the Y M C A building committee and workers on the campaign. Captain J W Barnett chosen as local architect representative to supervise construction plans. The conference was well attended and covered features and equipment for the new building and its outdoor grounds.
Dr. A M Soule, away for much of two months, returns today to prepare for the opening next Wednesday of the State College of Agriculture. He spoke in Detroit yesterday before the American Bankers Association, urging leading financiers to support agricultural education in the South and the nation’s future.
The funeral for Harry C Stockdell took place in Atlanta at 11 o clock from Patterson undertaking chapel. Hundreds attended the home service on Milledge avenue before the remains were sent to Seaboard station for transport to Atlanta. Reverends Hill and Beatty conducted readings and prayers with a family friends choir performing. Pallbearers included Hardeman Phinizy Rucker Quinn Palmer Wilkerson. An Athens lodge escort attended the procession to Atlanta yesterday afternoon.

The last prayer service of the series at First Baptist Church occurs this evening at 6 15. All Christians are invited to unite in daily prayers for a blessing on the city ahead of the great tent meeting starting Monday. Miss Lena Town has returned home from Bristol Tennessee where she had been staying with Mrs. Hunter Gallaway. Plans by Messia Shattuck and Hussey for local construction will begin immediately.
Yesterday a new rabbi Dr W C Macht preached on The Jewish Conscience at 10 am at Congregation of the Children of Israel in Athens. Local businesses run by members closed before sundown, first holiday service held 6 30 pm. Ten days hence is the annual fast day observed by devout Jews.

Mr. W. O. Welch known as Tave Welch will move from Danielsville to Athens this week to make the city his home. Reared in Athens he has spent years in Madison county in the lumber business operating a farm a store and a hotel in Daniels ville. He will run a large logging house on Washington street in the Tuck building.
Judge Horace Holden from Crawfordsville and Augusta arrives with his family to settle permanently here. They will live at the A. O. Harper home on Milledge Avenue and Holden will form a law partnership with Col. Frank C. Shackelford with offices in the Insurance building.
Judge Brand to resume injunction case against the city of Athens over the new fire hall location this morning at 10 o'clock in the council chamber. The case, begun days ago and not finished, was continued after Judge Brand's Gwinnett court duties. Mrs. John White returned yesterday from Dillard after several weeks away.
