Aged Citizen Westmoreland Dies After Long Illness
Mr. Freeman Westmoreland aged eighty one died yesterday at the home of Mr. D. M. Kenney where he had been cared for eleven years. He moved to Athens in 1846 and had no relatives. Interment will be at Oconee Cemetery at four this afternoon with services at the grave.

Georgia Horses Triumph at State Fair in Birmingham
Jay Boy owned by T. C Dunn of this city won the trot for a $400 purse at the Birmingham State fair and soon after captured the best three in five heats in 2 231 4 for another $400. Maxie Bliss of Macon finished second in the pacing, with both horses later appearing at the Northeast Georgia Fair. Jay Boy was driven in Birmingham by Henry Reaves, formerly of this city.
