Beatty Recalls Georgia Episcopal Convention Achievements
Reverend Troy Beatty described the eighty third annual Georgia Episcopal convention held in Macon. He highlighted council authority over doctrine, the missions emphasis, and the new formal annual missionary service. The session approved segregated representation for negro delegates with a self governing syatse council, preserving rights and unity across races. The bishop remains link between council and convention and H G Cunningham of Savannah led the segregation plan. The meeting also urged expanded Christian education including a potential girls school in Albany and noted the Appleton Home and Dodge Home for orphans.

Georgia Diocese Divides Work as Convention Ratifies Plan
The Georgia convention endorses a future diocesan split, likely by U S judicial districts, with Augusta Savannah Macon in the Southeastern region and Atlanta Columbus Rome Athens in the Northwestern. Lost Girl Returns Home After Overnight Hideaway
Mrs Susan Thomas reported her nine year old daughter Mary Lou missing Monday afternoon. Police searched until she returned home Tuesday afternoon saying she had stayed overnight with a friend on Pulaski street after being caught in the rain near the old baseball park.

Athens Woman's Club Elects Officers for Next Year
The Athens Woman's Club elected officers at its final meeting of the term. Rosa Woodberry was chosen president with J S Stewart as vice president and H D White as corresponding secretary. Other appointments include Miss E J Watt recording secretary and W J Peeples treasurer. The group approved monthly literature study, sent $15 to the State Federation for rural schools, and named a delegate to the Georgia School Improvement committee.

City Board Meeting Endorses New School Room and Staff
The Sinuary city board met Monday and approved an extra 25 by 38 foot room for the fifth grade at Childs street and asked the council to build it before September. They discussed hiring a qualified music teacher but postponed action. Two new teachers were elected to fill resignations, including G G Bond and F M Harper as superintendents and principals, with numerous others named for the coming year. Night School and Kindergarten positions were also noted with Miss Louie Lane leading the night program.

Death of Mrs. A. M. Scurry After Long Illness
Mrs. M A Scurry aged seventy one died after a long illness yesterday at three o'clock at her daughter Mrs J W Butler's home in Athens. She leaves six children including Mrs Butler Mrs W W Woodruff of Rome and Minnie Scurry of Milledgeville. Funeral at eleven this morning at Mrs Butler's residence with Dr W H Young of the First Baptist church officiating. Remains to be sent to Seneca South Carolina for interment at 12:55 today.
