High School Convention Brings Big Turner to Athens

The fifth annual state high schools gathering drew large crowds to Sanford Field and the chapel in Athens with contests in recitation spelling and athletics. Districts across Georgia competed in 100 yard dash shot put and running events while students delivered pieces such as The Lion and the Mouse and Higher Culture in Dixie. The Sixth district won the athletic cup and the lower Eleventh earned the literary cup with strong showings from multiple districts.
