Calhoun tipped as potential solicitor for Oconee circuit
The Montgomery Monitor reports that Col. M. B. Calhoun of Athens, a former Oconee circuit stenographer and current state senator, is being urged by Montgomery County friends to run for solicitor of the Oconee circuit. With four rivals already named, Calhoun’s entry would give the county its first solicitor from the bench. Col. Hal B. Wimberly and Judge John S. Adams head the Dublin slate, with Wm. A. Wooten of Eastman and Col. M. J. Carswell of Twiggs also in the race. Calhoun has not yet announced but is expected to do so at campaign outset.
