Southern Mutual Insurance Company Holds 1911 Annual Meeting
The Southern Mutual Insurance Company held its 1911 annual meeting to elect officers and review the sixty third annual report for the year ending April 30, 1911. John W. Grant became Atlanta director replacing the late Dr A W Calhoun. Directors and officers include Billups Phinizy president and treasurer Arthur E Griffith secretary Thomas I Mitchell bookkeeper and others from Athens Atlanta Augusta Columbus Macon and Savannah. The report shows underwriting profits and increased losses with a 58 percent dividend declared and scrip certificates being prepared. Receipts total 363 773.21 with premiums returned 5 495.75 and assets May 1 1910 at 558 317.46 Expenditures total 211 931.52.
