Dr Wedford Brown Elected City Bacteriologist in Athens
At the monthly Board of Health meeting in Athens Georgia Dr Wedford Brown was elected to succeed Prof A C Wells as City Bacteriologist health officer and school inspector effective July 1 1911. A petition signed by every practicing physician in the city endorsed the choice and urged prompt appointment. Brown a University of Georgia and Medical College of Augusta graduate hails from local families and comes highly recommended. The work will begin after a few weeks of state health board supervision under Dr H F Harris.

Near Beerewins Decision Before Judge Meadow
Judge Meadow dismissed the restraint order in the near beer nuisance case. The court held the four sellers did not prove they were blind tigers and ordered the injunction denied, bonds canceled, goods returned, and the defendants released. Citizens and temperance groups packed City Hall for the hearing.

George A. Riviere of this city died yesterday in Mobile Alabama. He had served as counsel to America at Mobile representing France and Greece. He leaves wife Ruby Thurmond and four children. He had long worked in insurance in Mobile and was remembered for his abilities and friendships.
