Col Ed Price Clarke County warden announces Section 612 of the Criminal Code restricting fishing by seine net gig or spear from February 1 to July 1 to hook and line only. Wardens and deputies must enforce the rule and failing to act when opportunity offers is a misdemeanor under section 21 of the new game law.
Since the 1907 flood the Oconee River has been almost fishless. Citizens seek help from Washington to stock the stream with fish and the game warden plans stocking drives. S. W. Bailey has received about one thousand fish and urges another shipment to renew the river’s former abundance.
The Colonial production of The Third Degree drew praise for its plot and dialogue but failed in execution as the cast delivered unconvincing performances. Charles Klein’s clever script underwhelmed due to incapable actors, a flaw echoed by the recently seen Lion and The Mouse tour.

Hon. John G. C. Stephens a wealthy Oglethorpe County planter and former legislator was killed when his big EMF automobile ran over him after the engine supposedly shifted into gear. Mrs. Stephens barely escaped harm. The Sandy Cross resident was highly prominent socially and politically.

The Athens Chamber of Commerce held a large booster meeting at city hall led by President Dorsey. Members formed committees to enter a private car for advertising Athens, invited moving the Georgia Plow Co. plant here with Chamber support, and planned a voter registration drive for the April courthouse bond election. Senatorial and business visitors, including H Nedelthan of Bre men, Germany, attended.
A 76 foot long tape worm was removed from a Greek woman patient of Dr. J P Waldrup at Spier Patrick drug store. The worm had two mouths and stretched far beyond the normal human small intestine length. Reported symptoms included voracious appetite and emaciation.

Chicago February 8 The Chicago board of education rejected all substitute songs proposed for The Star Spangled Banner after reviewing thousands of submissions. Dr J B McPatrack president said none were worthy of becoming the national anthem in U S history.
An effort to establish a flag station near Bailey's crossing on the Georgia road in East Athens aims to serve residents by providing a stop named Wells station. Currently passengers must reach the city or rely on hacks, as no streetcar service exists to that area. A petition to officials is being prepared, and backers expect approval due to the convenience for local patrons.
James E. McCulloch of Nashville toured Athens educational institutions yesterday and tonight as part of a mission for a Southern conference on social and religious reform. He leads the American Interchurch College for Religious and Social Workers. Governor Brown will appoint about 200 Georgia delegates, many from Athens institutions.

Late word from Baltimore reports Mrs C H Brand of this city gravely ill at Johns Hopkins Hospital after several days of treatment. Judge Brand and both daughters remain at her side as friends and relatives are alerted to the critical condition.
The Debaters' League proposed a commencement debate on the woman's suffrage question. Phi Kappa and Demosthenian accepted with Demosthenian defending the negative and Phi Kappa supporting "Woman's Rights." Prizes have shifted from $25 gold to two cups valued at $25 each.
Clarke county readers are told Representative R T DuBose will not seek reelection to the house and will run for the senate. The district includes Clarke Oglethorpe Madison and Elbert counties with a redistricted two-representative clause. DuBose praises his lower house record and plans a formal announcement and district canvass.
