The mayor and council met last night for trial of appeals one. Two cases proceeded due to many witnesses. Joe Walker, a black man, was found guilty of keeping whisky on hand for sale with a $100 fine and six months in jail. Wash Christian, a white man, was fined $200 or six months for the same charge. Col Welver M. Smith and City Attorney Shackelford presented the cases. Adjournment came after eleven. another session is planned for seven thirty tonight to finish the regular business.
