Negro steals cow and hides from Wood and Brumby
Emanuel Austin, a negro man, stole a cow from Bailiff R. F. Wood on Thursday night, slaughtered it, and sold the hide to Captain J. W. Brumby. Brumby identified the hide by description and Austin, unpaid for the hide, attempted to return for payment but was caught by police and jailed. He faces prosecution in the courts.
