Vanderbilt edges Georgia 1–0 as Wilder dazzles with 12 first inning strikeouts and Herrin drives in the decisive run. Georgia's miscues and baserunning woes doom the Red and Black despite solid contact, with a rematch set for 4 p.m. featuring Thompson and Morrison.
The Ath ens Presbytery opened in Elberton Ga with Rev E L Hill of Athens delivering a fine opening sermon. Daily sessions run 1 1 to 1 2 to 1 and 8 15 to 10. Commissioners from many churches listed include DuBose Toccoa Howerton Crawfordville Smith Ila Newkirk Royston Hoyt Cornelia and many others. The group plans to conclude tomorrow noon.
Rain washed out most schedules yesterday with only a handful of games played. Results show New Orleans beat Montgomery 3 4, New Orleans 2 Montgomery 2, Memphis 1 Chattanooga 0, New York 4 Boston 1, and Washington & Lee 23 Western Maryland 0.
Vanderbilt defeats Georgia 4 to 0 in a baseball game. Stolen bases by Lyte and Covington of Georgia. Hardage and Hutchens have two base hits. Herrin and Wilder pitched. Attendance listed as 700.
The seventh annual session of Group Two of the Georgia Bankers Association was held in Elberton with many Athens bankers attending. President H P Hunter of Elberton presided at 10 am in the county courthouse. F H Ficklen of Washington Wilkes served as secretary.
Invocation by Rev. Samuel C. Dean opens the Elberton bankers meeting with welcome from Mayor J M Wester and remarks from P M Hawes of Elberton Loan and Savings Bank. Reports by H P Hunter and others, discussions led by J J Wilkins FE A Pendleton and A B Sims. New officers to be elected.
Disjointed reports from the Titanic disaster show initial optimism gave way to confirmation of heavy loss. News from Atlanta and New York disputed earlier rescues and placed total saved around 710 with many missing, including Major Archibald Butt, Georgia's prominent military aide.
Prof. R. E. Park of the University of Georgia English department leaves soon for Barnesville to attend the congressional district high school association meeting where he will serve as a judge in the contests.

Athens readies a Memorial Day program with Rev M Ashby Jones as orator and a veterans’ reunion planning meeting in Macon. Clarke Rifles and local cadets will march with a band, public schools and Lucy Cobb invited to join, and autos offered for veterans. Miss Mildred Rutherford appeals for auto contributions and a special Banner edition will commemorate Southrons.
The secretary of Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge announces a called communications tonight to confer the Masters degree. Past Master W F Dorsey will lecture. all qualified brothers invited. refreshments provided. Visitors expected from Commerce Elberton Comer Colbert Watkinsville Winterville and other places.
The Lyric theatre screens Pathe Weekly images depicting major world events in word pictures and promises weekly showings. Also presented is A Victim of Circumstance by Kalem Co, with singers Lewis and Steele performing popular song hits. Phone 1076 Arnold & Abney advertise spring onions salad and eggplants.
Athens high school leads as E. B. Mell presides over the district high school contests in Eatonton with twenty five to thirty teachers and students attending. Winners will be named Friday night and Athens eyes the state meet next July at Athens.
