Local Barbers Elect Officers in Athens Union

The Athens barber union elected officers for the year led by W. E. Shehee as president, J. W. Tanner as vice president, F. C. Harmon as secretary and treasurer Golden Michael of The Three Friends on the slate. The finance committee includes Kent, Taylor and Smith. The charter will be installed at the next meeting Tuesday night. Most white barbers in the city joined the new organization.

Master Carpenter A L Greene Dies In Railway Curve

A L Greene master carpenter for the Seaboard Air Line died yesterday afternoon near Abbeville South Carolina after his motor car was struck by a northbound through freight on a sharp curve. He leaped clear but the car struck him and he died almost instantly. He will be sent to Atlanta and then to Cedar Town for burial. Greene was well known and liked in Athens.

Stolen Church Goods Recovered After Nighttime Robbery

Prospect Church yard thefts last Sunday night left nine lap robes six buggy whips and two hats missing while the congregation worshiped. Four lap robes and four buggy whips were later found in the cemetery by Mathews and Ouse Cross. A rogue robe was identified by Joe Sikes, and the incident prompted a warning that the thief will be severely dealt with if caught.

In Opelousas Judge Pavy denied a continuance for W C Walters charged with kidnapping five year old Robert Dunbar son of C P Dunbar.
