Kansas Life Expectancy Led Nation Says Brown at Topeka
Dr. Earle G. Brown, secretary of the Kansas state board of health, told the Kansas Master Plumbers association in Topeka that Kansas ranked highest in life expectancy according to the U.S. census. He attributed longevity to settlers, prohibition, rural life, education, low foreign domination, few slum areas, climate, and a robust health department. He cited reduced infant mortality and illiteracy with a sparse urban poor population as benefits of Kansas characteristics.
