Atchison Wins Rate Victory Against Missouri River Freight

The Interstate Commerce Commission ruling grants Atchison Leavenworth and Kansas City par with Kansas City Mo and St. Joe in inbound rates from eastern points and Mississippi river centers. The decision eliminates planned rate increases that would have hit can goods from Omaha and steel from Chicago, easing a months long freight-rate crisis for local shippers. Floyd Willette of the Chamber of Commerce calls the ruling a sweeping victory and notes ongoing technical details to study.
