City Buys New Fire Apparatus

The Atchison city commissioners ordered a Mack triple combination pumping engine for 9,500 to replace a 20 year old fire pump. The 750 gallon per minute unit includes a 100 gallon booster tank and 1,200 feet of hose and delivers modern capability with enhanced tools and safety features.

Francis Funeral Tomorrow For Mrs Mary Carpenter Francis

Funeral services for the 74 year old Mrs. Mary Carpenter Francis, married to John W. Francis, will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow with Rev. M. O. Kellison officiating. Burial is in Doniphan cemetery. The obituary notes long residence in Atchison and Winthrop, Missouri, a fractured hip from August fall, and surviving family including husband, daughter Nellie Newland, two sisters, a brother, and a deceased brother. Mrs Margaret Jones Henderson 58 wife of Atchison carpenter John Henderson died at 7 30 this morning at 1023 South Fourth street after years of ill health.
