Emporia Santa Claus arrested with liquor in Atchison

Frank Wagner, 32, of Emporia, nicknamed Santa Claus, was seized after crossing the Missouri river bridge into Atchison with more than ten gallons of alleged alcohol and jars of sauerkraut. His companion, a 26 year old Emporia woman, was also detained. Wagner carried money and a revolver, raising concealed weapons concerns. Police suspect a planned Christmas shipment and hold both suspects.

Golden wedding anniversary for Pepper couple near Weston

Mrs Miles A Reed Dies Unexpectedly in Atchison

Mrs Miles A Reed 1125 South Fourth street died at 10 30 am in her home at 74 years. She had cared for two nieces since early married life and was active in the Baptist church. Her husband Miles A Reed, 82, was with her and will arrange private funeral at 2 30 pm tomorrow with burial at Oak Hill cemetery. The community mourns the loss of a devoted wife and mother.
