Orchard Cup to Wathena honors Doniphan Atchison growers
The Wathena Commercial Orchards Co led by W D White won the sweepstakes in the Doniphan Atchison apple derby, with 65 orchards entered. A banquet at the Masonic temple drew about 100 apple growers and officials from Atchison and Doniphan counties as honors were announced and speakers urged quality over quantity in fruit production.

Mrs Mary E Morris dies after 72 years in Atchison
Mrs Mary E Morris 72 died at the Robinson home 608 South Fourth Street at 9 this morning after a long heart illness. Born Baltimore January 29 1856 she came to Atchison 35 years ago with husband George Morris who died in 1921. Surviving daughters Mrs Charles Robinson of Atchison and Mrs Ethel Ehret of Topeka, two sisters Mrs Ida Morris San Francisco and Mrs Alec Ray Kismet. Funeral plans not yet set. She was active in Presbyterian church and Pleasant Hour club.
