William Graham of Effingham Dies at 81

William Graham, 81, lifelong Kansas pioneer and cousin of Andrew Mellon, died at Effingham after a yearlong illness. Born June 18, 1842 in Ligoniere Pennsylvania, he owned a Monrovia farm and was connected to early Atchison county families. Funeral plans likely at Effingham Christian church.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Rushville Killing Two Men

A motorcycle rear ended a truck on the St Joe highway two miles north of Rushville around noon Friday. Dennis ODay Belle Plaine Minnesota died at Home Oil station Rushville. Victor Holste also of Belle Plaine Minnesota is not expected to live. The riders were traveling from Belle Plaine and reportedly speeded before the collision with A A Hatton of Halls Station Missouri driving the truck. Witnesses and details were sparse.

Grimstead Held After Impersonating Officer in Atchison

Jack Grimstead, 19, returned from Kansas City and was jailed in Atchison with Ray Postigisch for issuing near fifty dollars in worthless checks. Grimstead faces a federal impersonation charge while Postigisch laughs at the ruse as local authorities pursue the case.

Mrs Skerrit Hosts Banco Club at Santa Fe Home
