Atchison Rainfall Sparks Tiny Tornado Damage

Local rain totaled 2.5 inches in Atchison with a small tornado touching down at the union depot at 6:45 pm causing $600 in damages to the C B Q and Missouri Pacific facilities. Debris and a moving cloud of dust scattered across the depot platform while 18 inches of water flooded the area. Rainfall elsewhere was sparse with pockets of no rain. The event offers little benefit to late corn and comes mainly as a local weather anomaly.
