Bids will open August 25 for grading culverts and bridges on Federal Highway No. 78W linking Effingham Nortonville roads. Project covers 53 341 cubic yards excavation 27 570 cubic yards fill hedge work 24 350 feet and 770 feet of wire fence. One 45 foot and one 30 foot bridge to be built. Guarded by a traffic census of about 100 cars daily. Hedge along Monrovia cemetery and several farms to be grubbed. Right of way involves moves to Fred Smith Albert Churchill Marcus Snyder and Frank Clark properties.

State awards 22 miles for resurfacing in Atchison county
The Kansas state highway commission let contracts totaling 13 434 63 to Collins Construction Co of Leavenworth for resurfacing 22 miles of state roads in Atchison county.
