The United States Food Administration ordered further sugar limits. Urban and town residents may buy only two pounds at a time, while rural deliveries may go up to five pounds. Home canning remains allowed at up to 25 pounds with a signed housewife statement, mailed weekly to the city administrator. Group canning efforts may request larger amounts via the local administrator. Boarding houses camps mines and ranches must follow a three pound per person per month rule with no more than ten days’ supply per delivery.

City Water Department Vehicle Collides With Trustee Car

Documents made from asbestos fiber with iron and cobalt ink withstood two hours of red heat without damage. No harm appeared until ten hours of heat exposure. Researchers expect further study to yield a practically indestructible paper and ink for fireproof writing.
Azusa Gas Cloud Forces Evacuation After Ice Plant Accident
A pin from a cylinder head shattered allowing nearly two tons of ammonia to escape at the Azusa Ice and Cold Storage plant. Employees entered the fumes to shut down the facility while residents fled homes on Pasadena Avenue and a nearby baby nearly suffocated. Plant life south of the plant was killed as a thick gas cloud lingered for about two hours and then dissipated.
