Cattell Fails To Qualify For Los Angeles Supervisor Race

Pasadena on June 12 1918 H G Cattell explains he cannot run for county supervisor in the First District due to the new county charter requiring one year residence in the district He has lived in Pasadena sixteen years but in a city area outside the district and thus is ineligible He thanks supporters and expresses disappointment at not being a candidate.

Cogswell for Supervisor in First District Emerges

Ex Senator Prescott F. Cogswell of El Monte, longtime county resident and walnut and orange grower, seeks the First Supervisorial District seat. The Arcadia notice details bids for a First Avenue project, awarding to B. R. Davisson Contracting, with bond terms and improvements under the 1911 Improvement Act.

Browne Endorsed for Sheriff by Dry Movement and Army Officer

August 27 1918 endorsement shows Mr Browne the dry candidate backed by Rev Ervin S Chapman and many dry leaders. Colonel Daniel E McCarthy Q M Corps U S Army writes from Fort Houston Texas praising Browne for eliminating graft in the Philippines and predicting a big sheriff’s majority.
