Dedicate 15000 Kitchen At Duarte Home For Consumptives

The Jewish Consumptive Relief Association of California will dedicate a new 15000 kitchen and dining room at the Duarte home for consumptives next Sunday. The building replaces an old shack in service since the home was established. It features modern appliances including an electric range and electric dishwasher. Ceremonies start at 2 PM and run through the evening with full sanitarium illumination and the first meal in the 250 seat dining hall.

Farm Bureau to Demonstrate Citrus Disease Cures at San Dimas

Director J. B. Vaile of the Farm Bureau Center at San Dimas arranges a practical demonstration of cures for scaly bark and gum diseases of citrus trees with Professors H. S. Fawcett J. T. Barrett and Mrs R. W. Hodgson. The session meets at the school house Tuesday July 16 at 1 30 p m with a 2 p m orchard tour.

Director H A Miller of the Farm Bureau Center at Covina and H J Quayle of the Citrus Experiment Station organize a citrus fumigation school at Covina High School on Saturday July 20. Sessions will run morning and afternoon with an evening practical demonstration of liquid gas techniques. All interested in citrus culture are invited.

Street Dance Crowns Fourth of July Night

On the street in front of the new city hall a Fourth of July dance marked the day’s crowning event. Soldiers from the balloon school and others joined civilians in a lively party as the Fletcher Compton orchestra from Pasadena played and confetti filled the scene.

Odd Fellows Picnic in Monrovia Ends with Snake Kill

A large Los Angeles and vicinity Odd Fellows crowd held an all day picnic at Monrovia Canyon Park. On the way out by motor trucks, Canyon Guards E S Armstrong killed the season's second rattlesnake near the falls. The snake measured 34 inches with six rattles.

The Pasadena Elks donate use of their club house for practice and let camp boys borrow instruments until fully equipped. A future jazz band is expected for dances and other entertainments as the camp expands.

Hold Funeral Service for Holger L. Stuhr One Year Old

The one year old Holger Leslie Stuhr son of Mrs Huldah Stuhr died Friday June 28 after a short illness of double pneumonia. Rev M M Noacker and Rev Mailand conducted the funeral at the chapel in Rosedale cemetery. Pallbearers Ruth Robey Jane Walkey Alice Grande and Hazel Sherwood. The body rests beside his father who died sixteen months ago.
