The Outpost theater in Arcadia will host top film stars next week. Roy Stewart speaks Tuesday after Wolves of the Border, Monroe Salisbury Wednesday for Hungry Eyes, and Priscilla Dean Saturday for Which Woman. Fay Tinchs and Marie Dressler may also visit. The theater aims to host 150 soldiers nightly and plans a future officers night. The Outpost opens with The Empty Cab, before Broadway release, at 8 p m with ice cream drinks and light lunches available.

Fruit Thieves Caught Plundering Local Apricots
Ten Mexican laborers at the balloon school raided trees bearing luscious apricots near the Pacific Electric tracks in Baldwin or chard. City Marshal Treen and two deputies nabbed them in the act and they appeared before Judge Horlock on Wednesday morning. Fines ranged from two dollars upward.

German-born man arrested for threatening Anita Baldwin
Schwenn Bendis, an alien named as a German, was captured at Mrs. Baldwin's Sierra Madre home after a two month chase through Southern California. Police say he sent letters threatening her Red Star work and demanded money, using insults to womanhood. A mail fraud charge is filed, with a guard kept at the Baldwin residence for weeks.

Gas rates cut districtwide by Southern Counties firm
