New Judicial Circuit Proposed to Ease Court Congestion
A Montgomery meeting of senators and county representatives in the Seventh judicial circuit discussed creating a new circuit to relieve crowded dockets. Judge John Pelham and Circuit Solicitor C C Whitson attended as bills abolishing county courts in Cleburne and Clay counties shift work to the circuit court. Lawmakers also considered extra terms at other sites, forcing Pelham to work thirteen half months this year. The conference urged introducing a bill to form a new circuit covering parts of Pelham and Denson districts.

Hand Wages Suit Over Hays Company Funds
William T. Hand of Jenifer Alabama sues in the District Supreme Court to recover 20000 alleging he is a creditor of the Hays Consolidated Mining Milling and Lumber Company. He seeks an injunction against treasurer J W Whelpley and secretary A C Booth and a receiver to control the company’s assets. Hand bought 4000 shares for 20000 after being misled by officers and the company prospectus which claimed 75000 acres of land though the firm holds about 17000 acres worth 16000. The prospectus states a 5000000 capitalization.
