Reports from Savannah and Jacksonville detail a fierce cyclone affecting east and west coasts of Florida from Friday to Saturday. Wind speeds reached 65 mph in Miami. railways damaged. ships, including two large schooners and a Standard Oil steamer, were driven ashore or wrecked. Widespread crop damage to oranges and grapefruit followed.

Lawrence Journey son of Mr John W Journey was killed in an accident Saturday afternoon and buried in Jacksonville cemetery. He worked in a planing mill as a moulder and died from a molding fragment hitting his abdomen. He was about sixteen, brother of Ed Journey and nephew of Circuit Clerk I E Waton.

In Opelika on September 14 a hazing attempt at the Alabama Polytechnic Institute in Auburn led to a fusillade of shots and a badly wounded man. Monk Landrum, an ex-student, led an old-student chase of a new pupil who fled when pursued. Landrum was wounded as he fired. Further details are undisclosed.

The female colleges Annis ton College and the Noble Institute prepare to open in Anniston this week. Anniston College starts Wednesday morning September 16 with teachers in place and students set to arrive. Workers at the Southern Car and Foundry plant in Anniston are expected to receive back wages on Saturday September 19. General Manager Duncan of Birmingham is coordinating the resumption of operations with the blacksmith department due to reopen imminently and other departments following. The plant is already busy as the office staff prepare for reopening.
Bay City Michigan September 14 Clarence D Hopper and Roy Boucher switchmen for the Michigan Central railroad were killed when dynamite in a car exploded as a switch engine backed into several cars injuring engineer Robert Roblin fireman William Noble and conductor Jobo Craile Craile severely injured possibly dying. The blast tore a large hole in the ground wrecked many freight cars and damaged nearly 300 nearby houses with windows broken and some homes uninhabitable. The shock was felt in Essexville three miles away.
Rev Ellenberg a holiness leader says his feverish child remains under divine care and will receive no medicine. He was tried before Recorder McGhee who reserved judgment and urged delay and possible departure of Ellenberg from town.
