Decrease in the Public Debt for August 1902
Washington September 3 The monthly debt statement shows a total public debt cash in the treasury of 968,091,521 at August 30 1902, down 5,516,616 from the prior month due to higher cash on hand. Totals include interest bearing debts 931,077,340 noninterest 95,204,991 and certificates 545,576,089 not offset by cash on hand for redemption. Cash in treasury 1,200,043,680 with liabilities 930,552,179 leaving a balance 559,491,000.
