Work on the Annis ton Furniture plant will start soon with brick construction planned for a 150 by 150 foot building. Architect H N Austin is drawing the plans while L H Kaplin collects funds from local citizens for the project.

Judge Toulmin of Mobile presides with Deputy Clerk Greenleaf of Huntsville and Clerk Allison of Birmingham arriving. First session since new division creation. criminal docket includes Dee Ponder and others charged with counterfeiting.
The Alabama Hotel in Florence was destroyed by fire last night. Guests escaped unharmed. The brick structure, recently enlarged, was owned by Mrs. Wm. J. Nelson and insured for 3000 dollars. Building and contents valued at about 6000 dollars. leased and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weekly.
The new vagrancy ordinance goes into effect next Monday and will be strictly enforced by city and county authorities. It targets professional gamblers drunks and those leading profligate lives with penalties up to 500 dollars and up to six months in jail or hard labor. The act requires officers to report suspected vagrants under oath and to issue warrants for apprehension with court returns to the county court.
A local ad touts Bucklen's Amnica Salve as a cure for burns sores bruises cuts boils ulcers and skin eruptions. Priced at 25 cents it promises satisfaction and is sold by West End Drug Store and Miller Drug Co. Druggists.

Dornan Bros of Philadelphia owners of the Anniston Caryet mill will operate the plant to full capacity until May 1 1904. The force will be increased at once. Mr William H T Zinn, who just returned from a visit to the seat, gave the notice after meeting the owners. The plant is large and provides employment to a sizeable number of people.
At the Alabama Press Association meeting in Birmingham Asa Rountree was suspended as secretary until the next annual gathering. The session degenerated into uproar with chaotic speeches as members pressed claims of misconduct and censure.
Weatherhead Electric and Manufacturing Co is preparing plans and estimates for a seven mile electric railway from Puriton to Lineville Alabama. Local participants and exact costs are not disclosed until contracts are approved. Construction is expected to start early in 1904 with capital available for the project.
