In Calera on Friday and Saturday, J. C Williams of Anniston won first honors for a West Point cadetship and will be appointed by Congressman Bowie. The appointment takes effect June 15, 1904, with T. Drowned Man Found in Creek Near Piedmont Alabama
John Davis, recently from Alabama City, was found dead in a small creek about a mile from Piedmont. Small boys discovered the body and the coroner's jury ruled accidental drowning, likely after Davis fell in while intoxicated. Snowfall shocks Raleigh in record early storm
Ratnica North Carolina reported yesterday morning a snow storm the greatest weather surprise for the region. Snow began before 7 o'clock at 34 degrees and lasted two hours with large flakes. Raleigh stood as the coldest southern point, ten degrees colder than Richmond and nearby cities within a hundred mile radius. The snowfall was the earliest ever recorded there, preceding any killing frost.
