In Philadelphia bricks soaked in coal oil are used as fuel, with thousands burning bricks to ease a coal shortage. Brick yards report sales in small lots, sparked by a woman whose idea spread via an oil wagon man. One brick soaked all night burns over two hours and can heat a kitchen for cooking. Many say they will continue using brick fuel after the coal shortage ends.
Rev J F Bahler of Johnson County Texas reportedly regains sight after surgeons removed his eyeballs and then replaced them. He has lived blind for forty years and now claims to see movement in a room while staying at 464 Wall Street in Atlanta for several weeks.
