GapspEN Nov 19 The receivers of the Southern Car and Foundry company notify Mary Montgomery manager of the Gadsden plant to put the foundry department in full operation at once to cast for cars built by the Anniston plant, with about 250 skilled laborers expected. The car department now employs 150 on a rush order to repair 600 cars for Queen and Crescent road.

Boston, Nov. 19. After bitter language from President Samuel Gompers, the American Federation of Labor defeated socialist resolutions pledging allegiance to socialism. Nine resolutions were supported by 11 282 delegates versus 2 155 in favor. Gompers defended Vice President Duncan and declared socialist philosophy flawed, condemning its industrial aims. A large applause followed. A separate resolution to fund Alabama anti boycott law testing was sent to the executive council for early action.

City Land Company Plans Offices On Noble Street
The Anniston City Land Company has purchased the brick building on Noble Street formerly used by Locke Mountain Co and W K Yeatman Printing. It will occupy after January 1 and remodel interior with the first floor used as offices. The company owns adjacent vacant lots and plans to enlarge the building to create a prominent office location near the federal building.

A Strange Fatality in Brooklyn Household
Five members of Peter Hickey’s family have died of typhoid fever in a week in Brooklyn. Only a young daughter remains alive and ill. A priest who treated the family also contracted typhoid and died.
